Miha Plohl / Sculpture commissions

Sculpture commissions.
Stone, wood and clay.

Sculpture commissions of all kinds. Stone, wood, clay and pottery.

I work in stone, wood and clay. A commission begins with a conversation about the subject, material, size and the space the work will inhabit.

I offer commissioned sculptures weighing up to approximately 30–40 kg. We agree the material, subject and final weight when discussing the commission.

Subjects and materials

Sculpture
with character.

An original form, a portrait, a figure or another idea. Every piece has its own starting point; we agree the form and material before work begins.

Sculpture commissions

Portraits, figures, freely imagined forms and other subjects. Reference photographs, your story or a space provide the starting point for an original work. We agree the material and size together.

Stone and wood

Sculptures for a home, garden, private collection or a particular space. The setting, light and any exposure to weather also inform our choice of material.

Clay and pottery

My practice also includes modelling in clay and pottery. If you have a particular subject or idea, describe it and we can discuss how to give it form.

The commission process

From conversation
to sculpture.

01

The idea

Describe the subject, space, approximate dimensions, preferred material, timing and budget. Reference photographs of the subject or space are welcome.

02

Concept and quote

We agree the expression, material, size and timeline. Before making begins, you receive a quote and we agree the scope.

03

Making and handover

I make the work to the agreed concept. Collection, transport and any installation are arranged to suit its size and location.

Before commissioning

A few questions.

What does a sculpture cost, and how long does it take?

Price and timing depend on the material, size, complexity and availability. I prepare a quote after our conversation; please mention your preferred date and approximate budget in your first message.

Do you only make Shamir sculptures?

No. Shamir is the currently featured series. I make a range of original sculptures in stone, wood and clay, including commissions, as well as pottery.

Can you work from my idea?

Yes. Your idea, subject or space is the starting point. We discuss what needs to be recognisable and where there is room for sculptural interpretation.

Do you also run workshops?

I lead occasional sculpture workshops and take part as a mentor, including at Sajeta. More about workshops
